All the details in this nursery were so meaningful and that made photographing it really easy and a rich experience. Instead of running to Hobby Lobby to fill her shelves and walls with whatever was available, Rachel turned to her childhood and brought in quality items that really meant something to her and now her family. She had gorgeous, soft rattles from her mother’s home country of Colombia, a gorgeous silver rattle, and original, custom artwork which hung above the crib. The baby shoes you see below were from dad’s childhood and looked almost new, yet had small signs of wear. I smiled as I imagined his mama buying such good quality shoes for her little boy, and how they kept up over the years and now were able to grace the shelf of his little girl’s room.
The artwork above the crib were custom done of the family’s dog and cat which I got to meet and photograph. So much personality! I loved that Rachel invested time into custom artwork of her beloved family members. Little Mila will wake up to familiar faces every day now!
The whole room was soft and serene with so much soft light which bounced off the white walls and white furniture, and every detail felt meaningful.
Are you expecting a new little one? What items do you have from your childhood that you can display? Perhaps a rattle or two like the ones below? What about a piece of artwork from your childhood? A stuffed animal you loved?
These details add so much depth to your story, and will add so much meaning to your newborn session. The items you choose will be full of stories, and spark memories for you to pass down to your baby. Heritage being displayed is such a special way to make your nursery even more special.
