Restoration Hardware Nursery Inspiration | Newborn Photographer | Houston Texas | Rylee's Newborn Session

Sometimes dream nurseries do come true! Ellie loves Restoration Hardware and so much of little Riley’s nursery is from there. It all came together SO WELL and was the perfect backdrop for this lovely family and the love they have for their first little baby. Rylee Elise. Welcome to this world, little one.

Fine Art Newborn Photographer Houston, Texas | How to make your nursery meaningful

All the details in this nursery were so meaningful and that made photographing it really easy and a rich experience. Instead of running to Hobby Lobby to fill her shelves and walls with whatever was available, Rachel turned to her childhood and brought in quality items that really meant something to her and now her family. She had gorgeous, soft rattles from her mother’s home country of Colombia, a gorgeous silver rattle, and original, custom artwork which hung above the crib. The baby shoes you see below were from dad’s childhood and looked almost new, yet had small signs of wear. I smiled as I imagined his mama buying such good quality shoes for her little boy, and how they kept up over the years and now were able to grace the shelf of his little girl’s room.

The artwork above the crib were custom done of the family’s dog and cat which I got to meet and photograph. So much personality! I loved that Rachel invested time into custom artwork of her beloved family members. Little Mila will wake up to familiar faces every day now!

The whole room was soft and serene with so much soft light which bounced off the white walls and white furniture, and every detail felt meaningful.

Are you expecting a new little one? What items do you have from your childhood that you can display? Perhaps a rattle or two like the ones below? What about a piece of artwork from your childhood? A stuffed animal you loved?

These details add so much depth to your story, and will add so much meaning to your newborn session. The items you choose will be full of stories, and spark memories for you to pass down to your baby. Heritage being displayed is such a special way to make your nursery even more special.

Houston Newborn Photographer | Hutcheson

Hutcheson’s newborn session was set up with a gorgeous home designed by his interior designer mama, Ellie.

The sheets were a soft white and the walls a soft gray, which helped light the whole room.

With older siblings, I love to incorporate their natural movement into the session as well as let them be as they are. Hence some shirtless photos and lots of jumping on the bed!

Houston, Texas Newborn Photographer | Asher's Newborn Session

Asher was so tiny. His little breathing rose his belly up and down and you could see his little heart beating in his perfect chest. His dad’s hands held him so close and made him seem even smaller. He was utter, quiet perfection. Asher was born into a dog-loving family and the details in his nursery showed that adoration.

Houston, TX Photographer | Rainboots with my babies.

On our last trip to Finland this past November, I bought our boys some rain-boots. I had gone three years without buying rain-boots for the babies since the rain is warm here in Houston, but now that we have them, we couldn’t live without them!

Mine are over fifteen years old, and the print on them is the most common Marimekko print. Marimekko is a Finnish brand that is known for its colorful, bold patterns. Every woman in Finland has at least one Marimekko product.

We spent a wonderful, wet afternoon at the Houston Arboretum. Rain-boots protected us from the mud and any angry fire-ants. What a beautiful world we live in!

Houston Newborn Photographer | Houston Texas | James

I took these photos for my dear friend Austen, who, took care of both of my boys when I was in the hospital delivering Annikki. She had no children of her own at the time so it was quite the overwhelming task to take care of two baby boys! In a small attempt to thank her, I offered to take these of her sweet new baby boy, James.

James could not have come to a better family. Austen is a PICU nurse who is madly in love with his daddy, Joseph, who is going to med school. They will have a beautiful life, and I am so grateful for their friendship and what they did for us when we needed help most!

Avery’s arrival was so anticipated. She was welcomed by her wonderful parents, and big brother Parker. She has a sweet, quiet spirit and she was nothing but joyous the whole session.

Andrea (Avery’s mama) decorated her home in a neutral, bright way, and the light in her bedroom was soft and perfect for these photos. The joy between everyone in their family was so obvious. They love each other very much and the play that naturally comes is proof of that.

Houston Newborn Photography | Houston Texas | Max Tilly

Do you remember Hannah’s maternity session a while back? Well, her baby came. Sweetest little girl- Max Tilly. Parker and Hannah are so sweet together and this little girl is sure lucky to have them. Hannah had designed the prettiest nursery with all things Pottery-Barn and some lovely Aden and Anais swaddles. Everything was pink and feminine and lovely. I can’t wait to see this baby girl grow.

My little Annikki Kyllikki turns four months old!

Golly I love you. My little girl. Since you were born I've felt like I'm a new mother. I didn't realize how much gender would affect the experience but being able to dress you in cute bows and call you pretty has made me feel like I'm doing this all for the first time. Your eyes are just so gorgeous. I think they're brown- although I can tell there is a little green in them. I love your smile. It comes on display often now and I'm so excited about that. You are the sweetest thing and I love you so. Happy four months, sweet girl. You are so lovely.

Houston Maternity Photographer | Houston Texas | Hannah's Maternity Session

Hannah and Parker are expecting their first little baby. These two are so gorgeous and so excited for their little girl! What a lucky girl she is to be coming to such wonderful parents. Their little miss is making her arrival this coming Monday! Hannah's earrings really made a wonderful statement and her maxi maternity dress was just perfect for this occasion.

We met up at a park I hadn't been to yet- it's called Oyster Creek Park. It's a cute little park with a fountain and some flowers along the pond. It's in between Houston and Sugarland! I love new spots! Enjoy the photos!

These are some of my very favorite people. When I first moved to Houston, Jessie was my neighbor and was one of the first people to welcome me. They just moved to Alaska and all of Houston will miss them! Enjoy your adventure, you pretty people! We miss your littles in their Texas cowboy boots.

This session was a few weeks ago- but it needs to be posted. These boys were the first twins I have photographed and aren't they just perfection?! The morning light was so dreamy. Wearing light clothing like this makes photos look even brighter and airier! Jackie KILLED it on the outfit combos.

Houston Newborn Photographer | Houston Texas | Georgia Kay

This session took place in this family's gorgeous, brand-new home in The Heights here in Houston, Texas. Georgia Kay was two weeks old when we did her session and we were able to still catch a smile despite her young age! What a joy she is. Kati wore the most gorgeous off-shoulder gown and their home was full of neutral colors and white fabrics which made for photos my dreams are made of!

My favorite part of this session was styling little Georgia with her "Georgia Peach" swaddle. She is a true southern belle!

Houston Newborn Photographer | Houston Texas | Noah Michael

Noah's Newborn Session was a dream. This sweet family just recently bought a house here in Oak Forest, Houston Texas. It was built in the 1930s and was recently redone inside. Every corner was aesthetically pleasing and the colors inside were just incredible. Windows on every wall made the place bright, but what shone even brighter was the love inside this place. Alba and Steven are so in love with each other as well as their little man. I truly believe Noah is one of the luckiest little boys on this earth. And they are lucky to have him. His quiet demeanor was so easy to work with.

Some things that really made this session special were the lace blanket, basket, and hand-made hat and booties. The lace blanket was Alba's when she was a baby in Albania, the basket was being lent to them by a friend, and the hand-made hat and booties were made by Alba's aunt. Alba also had just recently bought a newborn bundle from Lou Lou and Co which was a gorgeous neutral and so soft to work with. I loved this session. I hope you enjoy looking through our time together!
