Josef and I both seem to always have the travel bug. Before we were married we each had lived in multiple countries all over the world. One of my most prized earthly possessions is a little box of our letters. We both collect stamps, so I made it my mission, wherever I was, to find the best possible stamp for Josef’s letters. The correspondence we had for years as just friends, has now become a foundation of our relationship. Those letters, not romantic in nature, are now the most romantic thing I can think of.
I have struggled figuring out the layout of this page- is it best to do it by country? By year? Maybe it will evolve. But one thing is certain- we won’t stop seeking adventure. I truly believe travel can rid us of arrogance, of entitlement, and of racism. Every country I’ve been to has changed me into a me.
Many people are amazed that we have taken our children on all our trips. Because I believe so strongly that travel makes us better human beings, I want to share that with the humans we love most. We want them to grow up fearless. I’ve noticed that when groups of people do not take the time to listen to people who are “different” than they are in whatever way, they start to fear them. Then pride creeps in, and eventually hatred, or indifference.
I didn’t realize how passionate I am about this subject. Perhaps I will share more later. The world is truly a good, beautiful place. My children do not fear it- and that has been worth every penny.
